“Yay! Yay! A café!” Night exclaimed, taking Margot by the hand as he spun her around in some sort of obscure dance like that occasion when Alice had offered him a home. Having exhausted himself, he released his friend and clasped Sabrina’s hands in his, his eyes sparkling with childish pleasure as he divulged a plethora of ever so generous praise. Oh he was giving her such an ego boost!
Once he finished this task, Night promptly sprinted across the street, paying no heed to the traffic whatsoever. It was a surprise that he wasn’t run over in the process and only received some honks of disdain. Stopping at the door of the café Sabrina had pointed out; Night inhaled deeply, amassed his courage, and entered the bustling shop. It was quite different from Donny’s café, somehow if didn’t seem to have the same affable atmosphere and was more business-like.
Endeavoring to secure a table before the girls caught up to him, Night moved past the counter whereupon a hand callously gripped him by the collar and forcefully pulled him back. Bewildered, Night stared back at the waiter who had apprehended him. Night shuddered. He didn’t look kind at all!
Glaring at Night, the man said:
“Hey, kid. In case ya can’t read the sign, no slummers allowed. Now before ya go and open ya mouth, I don’t care if you’re the king of America or whatever untruth ya were gonna sprout. At this café, customers have to adhere to a strict to a strict code of at least satisfactory presentation if they want to be served.”

Laughing light-heartedly, Sabrina looked down at him. It was truly remarkable how excited he was. Something about those big, sparkling eyes just made her so happy. She followed him with a joyful look to the café, though was a bit more careful than Night. People honked at her as well, thinking that she was with the boy who had just so carelessly crossed the street. When she saw Night make it to the café, she let out a relieved sigh and a little laugh. She would have felt so terrible if he had been hit and killed because of her suggestion.
She walked in, expecting no trouble until the waiter held Night back. Before anything bad happened, Sabrina tapped the waiter in the side. “Sir,” she said. “This kind boy is with me. There’s no need to harass him.” The man turned and gave her a questioning look. What was a rich girl like her doing with a slum boy like Night?
“Ma’am,” he protested. “I can’t have people thinkin’ that I let slummers in. It’s bad for business! Ya understand, don’t ya, that he’ll drive business right out the door!” Reaching into her little handbag, Sabrina pulled out a few dollars and handed them over to the man. The waiter slipped the cash into his pocket and gave them a smile.
“I think that should cover any lost business,” she said pleasantly, not even seeing what she’d done as giving a bribe. “Now may we please be seated?” With a nod, the waiter instantly led them over to a table, though placed them away from any windows. Once they were seated, she looked at Night with a sad look. “I’m sorry about that. Some people have no manners.”
She looked over at Margot and smiled. “Margot, I hope you like this,” she said earnestly, thinking that she must think it a little different to go to eat for the first time. She began paging through the menu and tried to think of what she was hungry for.

Margot paused, turning her face away from the waiter and shoving her hands in her pockets. Momentarily at a loss for how to handle the situation, Margot resigned herself and stood back next to Night, waiting to see how Sabrina would take care of it all.Adjusting her excessively large flannel shirt, Margot smiled at Night. "I'm sure it's fine. Really!"
Margot watched Sabrina step up to the waiter and whisper something to him, and after sliding something to him as well, it was evident the tables had turned. Within moments, instead of being shoved out of the café, the three were being escorted to a table as if nothing had happened.
“I’m sorry about that. Some people have no manners.”
Margot pursed her lips and nodded in agreement with Sabrina. "Mhm, that does seem to keep happening today. It's no good..." The way people had been acting was particularly upsetting today. Never before had Margot realized how far the cruelty and discrimination roamed in this city. And as hard has she tried, Margot just couldn't wrap her mind around why any of this would even be a problem. For goodness sakes! What made slummer a bad word? Silly, really. It's all ridiculous.
Margot grinned at Sabrina, reminded of their treat today. "Oh, how couldn't I!? Thank you so much, Sabrina!" Margot, following Sabrina's cue, began to hunt through the menu, dazzled by the array of options. "Tuna melt... chicken parmasean.... hmmm," Margot whispered under her breath. Leaning back in her chair, Margot looked around the café. She wished the waiter would've put them by a window, as Margot loved to listen to the rain against panes. With such weather and such company, today was the perfect day!
Turning back to her friends, Margot asked, "What are you two going to order? I'm having a difficult time deciding..."

Sabrina paged through the menu herself. “Hmm…” she murmured. “Their pressed sandwiches look good.” She decided that their turkey Panini looked best, and that she would take that. “That turkey Panini looks delicious. What are you hungry for, though?” She set her menu down and looked at her two friends across the table.
As she raised her eyes, however, she saw the little slit of window they could see from their table in the back. For a split second, she thought she saw a familiar face. Smile? No, it couldn’t be. He was still off on Mafia business. He couldn’t possibly be back for her already! She opened her menu and shoved it in front of her face, so that nobody could see her face from nearly any angle.
“Uh…” she hummed, laughing just a little bit. “So, uh, what do you guys want to talk about?” She peeked over the top of the little book toward the window again. No Smile. But, better safe than sorry, right? So she kept the menu over her face. Not wanting to let them in on the problem, though, she didn’t even address it.
She didn’t want them thinking a love-crazed Mafioso after them. Plus, what if he and Night were from rival families? She couldn’t chance that. “Great place, huh?” she asked, voice muffled by the pages between her and them. “Everything looks delicious!”

As Night witnessed Sabrina’s little maneuver with the sum of green his mind went blank. For some odd reason this displeased the lad greatly yet for the interim he could not recall the word that fit the situation. Thus, in a complete daze, he could do naught but nod compliantly and voice a meek ‘thank you’ as his newly acquired friends led him to their table.
Of course, upon the presentation of the menu Night was immediately distracted like a child. Oh how entranced he was by those pretty pictures and that decorative script. For a while his mind meandered along that ever-so-pleasant road of food to such an extent that he was practically drooling. Everything appeared so…beyond words he knew he would be satisfied with anything! Closing the menu as if it were a bible or some other sacred book, Night was just about to voice his ‘choice’ of ‘anything will do’ when a single word jumped him from the shadows of his mind.
Gasping at this epiphany, Night hastily stood up, not seeming to mind the horrid screeching and then clattering sound of his chair as first it scrapped and then crashed to the floor. Slamming both hands atop the table with unwarranted force, the boy shouted, “No, Sabrina! You can’t do that! Corruption is wrong!”
Sadly enough, his proclamation did more than stun the customers of that little café. That is, the volume of his voice sufficed to carry his words out of the shop and across the street… Right into the ears of a rather disappointed mobster who had returned from an errand to find his captive gone! This man was the ‘love-crazed’ Mafioso that poor Sabrina has been fleeing from and at the sound of her name…well let’s just say he was no longer on the verge of giving up his search for his escaped prey.
Striding purposefully to the café, Smile kicked open the doors and in one fluid movement withdrew his gun. Aiming the weapon at the head of the surprised waiter, the Mafioso proclaimed, “Oh Sabrina, that’s so cute! Did you really think you could get away from me so easily?” Really, he meant her no harm (meant none of these random people any harm actually), yet something, call it a mobster’s intuition if you prefer, was telling him to don this badass façade.
Someone here was a threat to him.
OoC:// Reviving RPs late at night (like Dr. Victor Frankenstein) because I can! *shot dead by mob* &Yes, yes, that’s a good idea. Night and Smile should totally be from rival Mafia families. *smiles evily*

Sabrina was just about to comment on their delicious-looking lemonade when Night suddenly stood. His sudden movements caused quite a splash in the gentle setting of the café. Could he have been any louder? Every person in the restaurant was staring at them – even the chef in the back, was peering through his little circular window.
“Oh dear,” she whispered, setting down her menu. She began to explain that she wasn’t corrupt when another mobster burst through the doors. Now without her covering, she was clearly exposed so Smile could see that it was her Night had been shouting at. What a disaster!
His gun was drawn, and everyone in the restaurant was on edge with his stunning entrance. “Smile, wait!” she said quickly. “I just… You left! I thought I could go since…” She followed Smile’s gaze to Night, and her worst fears were confirmed.
They must be from rival groups. “No, no, no…” she whispered. “This is terrible!” She didn’t know what to do. Calm Smile and further agitate Night, or quell Night’s fury and make Smile more trigger-happy with that gun? Both choices were terrible, and could result in a catastrophe. Poor Margot, getting dragged into all of this!
Slowly getting to her feet, she made her way over to Smile. “I wasn’t meaning to escape,” she said softly. “Honestly, I just didn’t want to be tied to that table all day. I didn’t know you were coming back so soon…” She glanced back at Night, an apologetic look in her eyes. Would this kill their newly-found friendship?
