Sabrina nodded, looking rather ashamed of herself. She didn't even complain when he pulled on her hair. "It was a rotten trick, I know," she said softly. "I am so, so sorry." She stepped back a little and sighed. "Honestly, if I'd known it would upset you, I never would have even thought of it! I was just so mad... I wasn't thinking..." Sadly, she looked back, as if trying to look anywhere but Memini's eyes.
"Why don't we just head back?" she asked in a soft, remorseful voice. "It doesn't look like there's any auction anymore..." Tracing her foot through the grass, she made a little line in dirt. When Memini apologized, she shook her head. "No, it's not just your fault. If anything, it both of our faults equally..."
She turned and started back toward the circle drive where their cars were still waiting. "How much did we hear?" she echoed. "Uh..." She thought quickly. She didn't want to embarass him any further than he already was. "How much of what? We only saw you crying... We didn't hear anything." She lowered her head a little, hating that she'd just lied. But that was a good lie, right? She didn't want to hurt the poor boy any further.
She glanced to the hedge fence where the two men were still hiding, giving them a look to go along with that. Then she got in the backseat of one of the black cars and waited for one of them to come and drive her to the Veritas mansion where she hoped she was still welcome.

“I see…” Memini sighed with relief, following Sabrina into the car. For once he considered it fortunate that he had succumbed to his tears. He shuddered as he pictured the teasing he may have had to put up with if his crying hadn’t blotted out his words. Once safely in the car, he was surprised to see the chauffeur take the driver’s seat instead of Adrasteia. “Hey…where’s Adrasteia?” he questioned, suddenly fearful that the prank hadn’t entirely been a work of fiction.
“Oh, he’ll be driving the vehicle you came in.” The chauffer replied matter-of-factly as he pulled out of the driveway. “Don’t worry about him, he’s alive.”
“I see…” Memini muttered. Adrasteia’s unprecedented behavior irked him immensely. Was he avoiding him because of what he had done? Still, he had secured the deed to the Matthews former estate so at least he had gained something at the end of the day. Speaking of which…according to his watch it was already past 5pm. How had time managed to progress so fast without him noticing? Yawning from sheer exhaustion, Memini leaned his head against Sabrina and promptly fell asleep.
